"Hiring the best is your most important task" - Steve Jobs
Did you know that your future manager wants you to succeed? They really do. We spoke to a few managers and this is what they wish they could know:
They don't really care what the application or the resume says. One month later, Six month later - can you fulfil the responsibilities of the job.
The modern job involves collaboration and teamwork and often times it will be other individuals who will work closer with you than the manager themselves. A happy team is a happy manager.
If they're able to learn something from you from the interview, then you are one step closer to being a contributing and valuable teammate.
After all, there will be many 1:1s and coffee chats between the two of you. Try to make this experience as enjoyable as possible.
With so many capable candidates, how can you stand out? If you can get to this point before they ask it, then you are doing well.
The reason why they are speaking to you is that they are looking for someone who wants to do the role. If you are interested, make sure it's clear. If not, please let them know right away.
Interviewing, hiring and training aren't easy tasks. It takes time and effort on the part of the manager and the team. If you can teach them something new or improve them once you join. Then their efforts are worth it.
